SYNOPSIS

Large organisations have an asset that is frequently under-utilised. They have an army of people with direct knowledge of where the opportunities exist and how to approach them. However, good ideas can be unintentionally suppressed by organisational hierarchy and process.

In 2021, whilst the world was still in lockdown, we asked ourselves the question: ‘How can we engage all our people to identify, refine, prioritise and rapidly develop innovative solutions that will help us be more effective?’ At the end of the process, over 1000 people (a quarter of the entire organization) had taken part, 82 ideas had been submitted, and four winning ideas had been implemented.
